Zippy Shell personnel are very help and ensure to work with you to get the best rate. They were great in applying military discount to my contract. The also kept me informed throughout the process of drop off and pick up.

Here are just a few of the issues I encountered:

Per our contract, Zippy shell movie company had between 5-13 business days to transport and deliver our items across country. We will not be getting our items until over 20 business days after they loaded the moving truck, which is a violation of our contact. Customer service has been extremely unhelpful and has not been able to do anything to help us, nor have they offered. They did not offer a refund or partial refund for their lack of professionalism as well as the inconvenience they have caused to our lives. We have several necessary items that we are awaiting. This has been the worst experience with a moving company that we have ever used. We move every 6 months and have never been so disappointed and disgusted with the lack of honesty in a company. They lied to us from the beginning saying that our items would be there within 5 business days in order to secure our business. When we contacted them on the Monday, checking on a delivery that should have been Wednesday, they let us know that our things had not even left Louisiana yet. This has been a traumatic experience and not only will we not use them again, they should be shut down completely. I wish we could give them 0 stars but that is not an option.

- We chose to self unload our container because. Online and in our contract, it defines self unloading as having "up to 3 days" to unload the container. However, 12 hours before our container was supposed to arrive, Brian from Portland called and told us that we would have 3 HOURS to unload, not 3 DAYS. I immediately called customer service and they said, "Yes, it says UP TO 3 days." They told me that because of my distance from the warehouse, they couldn't drop the container off. I was never told this before that moment and I never got a clear answer as to how distance from the warehouse dictates how long you have to unload.

My experience teo years ago was great. This time it was a nightmare. Zippy Shell has NO accountability as each is independently operated. So when i called to let corporate know about my terrible experience and asked for a manager or some sort of reprieve for someone else to step in, the best they could do was send an email. It was frustrating to book, horrible follow up, return phone calls are rare, her (Heather, Anne Arundel) answering her line was rare, initial delivery was late. When it was time to return our stuff, an EMPTY shell was delivered, then they delivered only one of our two units because they overbooked and couldn't get them both out at the same time (despite the promise that they would). Steven promised delivery on Friday morning, no one bothered to call. Here we are, Saturday morning and our second storage unit still has not been delivered.

I wish I could give less stars to Zippy Shell. Brian from the Portland office was really the only good thing about my Zippy Shell experience. He communicated well and was very nice.

- If you unsubscribe from the near-constant marketing emails, you also unsubscribe from any updates about your belongings. Those emails also kept getting filed to my "spam" or "promotions" folder.

- After calling Zippy Shell every hour on the hour, I finally talked to a regional manager and all I was offered was to be reimbursed for the extra time if it took us more than 3 hours to unload. So let's break that down - if it took us more than 3 hours, it was $75 for each hour. They would REIMBURSE me for up to 2 extra hours. However, that would have totally screwed over their own people at the Portland warehouse as they would have been behind on deliveries for the rest of the day. Also, $150 in reimbursement after all of this? Nice try.

Never use this service. Never look at this service. Block everything about it and use something else. Hiring a covered wagon to move your stuff is a better option.

- They tell you that you are assigned a "Move Coordinator" who will personally handle details of your move. We were assigned one and then never heard from her again. Her extension actually goes to a guy working in tech. So I dealt with random customer service people instead and had no direct line to anyone.

- Because the Zippy Shell "shell" is a wire cage, your belongings WILL get damaged if they are put up against it. Our TV is ruined because the screen was put up against the wire. Even though it was wrapped in bubble wrap, the loaders chose to put it screen-first against the wire. Conveniently, Zippy Shell does not cover damages to belongings due to shifting or damages to belongings due to the loaders they hire. Almost all of our furniture has nicks and scratches from the design of the shell.

Very prompt service! All reps and drivers were very professional and timely. Got us out of a last minute near-emergency during our move. Highly recommend.

What they tell you/sell you in the move agreement is NOT what actually happens. The customer service system is incredibly time consuming and not effective. I kept being told that services vary location to location, but no one could tell me how those services varied or why they varied. The service I had already paid for kept changing, in spite of the fact that I had a contract that outlined what I was supposed to get.

However, dealing with Zippy Shell was absolutely ridiculous from Day 1, and now, almost a month after we got our belongings, I'm still dealing with ramifications from the move.
