It was a busy Thanksgiving evening but the staff kept their calm and did an awesome job! The gift shop outside the restaurant is fun to walk through. It's crammed with all kinds of interesting items. The ceiling and walls are decorated old/antique items giving the store a unique look. Good place to get a meal a reasonable price.
Cracker Barrel is always a good meal at a decent price. The differences are solely the level of the cordial attitudes. Most stores/restaurants are in more outlying than Urban. This location is one of the more urban locations, so they staff appear to have less time and/or attitude to be as friendly as in many of the Cracker Barrels. Nothing was wrong, but the staff was to busy to be friendly with the customers. For a store/restaurant that trades on being home-spun, friendliness would be assumed as part of the experience there. It falls short at this busy location. Sorta' makes it feel just like any other chain restaurant. And, if it was just any other restaurant, the process should be lower to be comparable with all the others.
The food was good. I went in expecting to order some grits. I inquired about the options of the variety of grits, and was told that they sold cheese grits. Got the grits, and , they were so good that I asked for 2 extra bowls. Will be going back for the cheese grits. Loved them! The employees were also okay! Loved the souvenir store prior to getting seated. They gave a variety of back in the days candy. My favorite of all, juice bottle candies.
First time doing the Thanksgiving take home dinner. Since we were traveling this year we decided that this looked like a better option than trying to haul groceries on at least a 7 hour drive. Everything was great. The staff was freindly, and the food easy to heat. Great value!
Although the wait was tremendous (2.5 hours!) The food was amazing. The best chicken fried steak. Our server was very friendly and her service was exceptional. The hostess however was very cranky and rude. Adding that to a long wait time and I can see why most customers were annoyed but the rest of the meal was fantastic.
